I was worried I would feel regret when I woke up. Truth is, guilt is the last thing I’m feeling. My energy is far too consumed by my pounding head, tired eyes, rolling stomach, and metallic-tasting mouth. Ugh. I’m never drinking alcohol again. Vodka is the devil.

I roll out of bed, swiping my hair off my face as I crawl toward the bathroom. I need to vomit and then shower.

The hot water feels amazing as it soaks my skin, washing off the stench of stale alcohol from my body. I condition my hair and stay under the spray until my fingers start to prune. Then I brush my teeth and climb out.

Curled up in my bed in a fresh pair of pajamas, I wonder whether Dane made it to school today. Besides the fact I slept through my alarm, no way was I going in hungover as hell anyhow. I wonder whether Lexie has noticed my absence. She probably doesn’t care, too caught up with her new cafeteria friends.

Pouty Emma is not a good look.

Rather than sulking over thoughts of mine and Lexie’s fight, I focus on Dane. Last night was amazing. After I went down on him, I quickly raced into the bathroom and brushed my teeth before returning so we could make out again. Then he made me come with his fingers and we made out some more. It was after midnight when he left and by that time I had sobered up a lot but I’m pretty sure I smiled all night, even while I was sleeping. I’m dying to text Lexie and tell her all about it, but I remind myself she’s in class, not that she’d answer me anyway. This is why having two friends would be a great idea. If you’re fighting with one, you can still confide in the other. Unfortunately for me, I’ve only got Lex, and right now, she’s pissed at me.
